Towards the West: St. George Rigatis, Demadona Olive Grove, St. Irene and Lefca village Sunday February 17
The western part of Cyprus has rich ancient, byzantine and medieval monuments. The Church of St. George Rigatis situated on a plateau on top of the village of Philia gives amazing views to the northern sea and the mountains of Troodos but it is also a landmark from the Arab Raids of Cyprus. Right next to Rigatis lies the Demadona olive grove, today protected by the EU, with some trees being more than 800 years old. Stunning landscape, ruins of churches, caves and tombs all make out an beautiful scenery. After having our break at the water tank of Demadona we will drive to the village of Lefca, a centre point during the British administration, with an interesting architecture and a valley of palm trees.
